About

 Hi!

I’m Amy!  Thanks for stopping by my page.

I am a certified health coach, with almost 10 years of experience as a licensed healthcare professional.  On top of that, I am currently pursuing my BS/MS in human nutrition.  What started my passion for health and fitness was really my love for food. I love to eat and I love helping people live a healthy lifestyle, while still enjoying what they eat.

My journey started when I went to school for dental hygiene in 2011. I had the opportunity to take a variety of classes in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, nutrition, pharmacology, as well as psychology and sociology. Not to mention all of my dental specific classes. I quickly learned that dental hygienist do not just clean teeth- they really are detectives and many times we see oral manifestations of systemic diseases and conditions long before they are diagnosed. Dental hygienists have the ability to be part of the bigger picture, by helping their patients see that their mouth is in fact connected to the rest of their bodies. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory process and has therefore been linked to numerous other inflammatory diseases, including heart disease, strokes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and many, many more! I quickly became fascinated by the mouth-body connection, and wanted more for my patients, and myself as a clinician.

After hygiene school, when I was able to be a normal human being with a life again, I got in to Crossfit- I know you’re thinking I’m one of the crazies, but trust me, the years have mellowed me! Obviously, Crossfit brought fitness into my life, and at a level I had never experienced before. Suddenly, what I ate mattered. I grew up eating garbage- little Debbie’s cakes, mountain dews, fast food, etc. Even throughout hygiene school, I did not really put the pieces of the puzzle together. I started to realize that the foods we eat can either reduce inflammation or promote inflammation from within. Then I really started piecing things together.

I started coaching Crossfit in 2015, pursuing my Crossfit Level I and II certifications. In 2017 I pursued my Precision Nutrition Level I certification and I am currently pursuing my BS/MS in human nutrition.  As a licensed healthcare provider, I am held to a higher standard than most. I do numerous continuing education classes every year- many of them on the topics of nutrition and inflammation. I am fortunate enough to hear many great doctors speak on these topics and share a wealth of information, that I can in turn share with my clients.

My philosophy and views have changed over the years. Now more than ever, I incorporate numerous facets of our daily lives into my coaching techniques. There are many different aspects of overall health and wellness, and if one is broken, it will lead to dysfunction in other areas as well. I love helping people see how interconnected everything is and guiding them to make healthy changes in all areas of their lives. While I focus on the ‘Foods N Fitness’, I take in to account the many other parts at play and treat each person as a whole. I work along side of my client’s doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care I can. It is time to break down the barriers between the different fields of care and start working together towards optimal overall health and wellness for all!
