Nutrition can be hard. Making good food choices has been overly complicated by our society. Keto, paleo, low-carb, atkins, vegan, gluten free, etc. My nutrition philosophy is pretty simple- eat as many whole foods as you can, with as much variety as possible. While processed foods are nearly impossible to avoid- I mean really anything with a label is technically processed- let me help you learn to read labels and read between the lines of that “gluten-free, non-gmo, organic, all natural” label.
I believe food is medicine and can have many healing powers. I do not take a drastic approach in my coaching and I believe balance is key. I want to help you build a healthy, long-lasting relationship with food, which takes time. I do not believe in tracking every ounce of food you eat daily, and tracking all of your macros to a “t”- your body is not a laboratory. Your body is a highly individualized group of systems, therefore I do not expect it to break down things exactly like your nutrition label says it will.
I encourage people to refrain from seeking out trendy diets- they are just that, trends. I also refrain from labeling foods: good foods vs bad foods. I take in to account all of the different facets that play a role in how we eat- physical, emotional, psychological, social, etc. I will not give you a meal plan, and I will not tell you exactly what or how much to eat. I do not think that is the best way to form a healthy relationship with food and I am not qualified to do that. I instead focus on the lifestyle habits and everyday choices that can empower you to make better nutritional choices.
